The August crypto pnl report is now live, and it is the most unevenly distributed month the SunCrypto community has recorded in 2026. Covering the complete trading activity for August 2026, the report logs 110 futures trades, producing a +907.24% monthly ROI at a 58.49% win rate.
On headline numbers, August ranks below July. ROI fell from +1106.94% to +907.24%, the win rate slipped from 62.50% to 58.49%, and average return per trade dropped from +10.54% to +8.25%. Read only that far, and August looks like a step backwards.
The distribution tells a different story. Almost the entire month’s return arrived in the second half, and almost all of it came from one side of the book. Understanding why is more useful than the headline figure.

August’s 58.49% win rate sits below July’s 62.50% and June’s 61.80%, but above May’s 51.67%. The win-to-loss ratio held up: the average winner returned +28.69% against an average loss of -19.80%, a ratio of roughly 1.45x. That is slightly tighter than July’s 1.55x, and it explains most of the ROI gap on its own.
The 110 trades make August the busiest month since June’s 134, spread across 26 active trading days.

The month’s best trade was a BTC/USDT long at +77.80% on 24 August, taken at 20x. That figure exceeds July’s best single trade of +70.79%, so August did produce a larger outlier despite the lower monthly total.
The composition of this leaderboard is the story, for August crypto pnl report. Nine of the top ten are longs, and the single short, SKYAI at +55.72% on 18 August, was taken at 7x rather than the standard 10x. July’s top ten split six longs to four shorts. August’s is close to one-sided.
Bitcoin appears three times in the top ten, on 23, 24, and 27 August, all longs. That is a marked departure from the last three months, in which BTC led on volume and disappointed on returns.

August’s worst trade was a TAO/USDT long at -26.85% on 26 August, and no single position broke -27%. Risk control held: for the third consecutive month, the deepest drawdown stayed inside the -28% band, and the average loss of -19.80% is almost identical to July’s -19.42%.
HYPE appears in both tables again. It produced a +56.98% long on 14 August and a -22.80% long on 24 August. HYPE was flagged in the July report as the source of the worst single trade in two consecutive months. It did not repeat that in August crypto pnl report, but it remains a pair that cuts both ways.
Gold is the notable new entry. XAU accounts for two of the eight largest losses, on 13 and 21 August, and on opposite sides of the market.

- BTC/USDT finally converted volume into profit. Thirteen trades, a losing 6-7 record, and yet +212.28% of total contribution, the largest of any pair. The record looks mediocre; the ROI does not. Three Bitcoin longs between 23 and 27 August returned +210.38% between them, which is effectively the entire figure. After three months in which BTC led on activity and lagged on returns, August broke the pattern.
- XAU/USDT was the month’s worst pair at -94.49%. Gold went 1-5 across six trades. In July it was the single largest ROI contributor at +114.95%. That is a complete reversal, and it happened while the community kept trading gold from both directions.
- PENDLE/USDT, SPCX/USDT, and DASH/USDT finished perfectly ten trades between them, ten wins, and +268.69% combined.
- ZEC/USDT went 0-3 for -55.96%, the only pair with three or more trades and no wins.
Key strategy insights from the August crypto pnl report
- Longs did 97% of the work in the August crypto PNL report: Sixty-five longs returned +879.46% at a 62.50% win rate. Forty-five shorts returned +28.12% at 52.38%. In July, longs and shorts both cleared +500%. In August the short book effectively flatlined, contributing barely 3% of the month’s return despite representing 41% of the trades.
- The month was decided after 16 August: Trades from 1–15 August produced +35.47% from 43 trades at a 48.78% win rate. Trades from 16–31 August produced +872.11% from 67 trades at 64.62%. July’s second half outperformed its first by a modest margin; August’s outperformed by roughly 25x.
- 19 August was the single best day of the year so far, with ten trades, +316.05%, including ENA +51.23%, BTC +52.30%, SIREN +66.73%, PENDLE +46.64%, and SOL +43.68%. Nine of the ten were long. The worst day was 13 August at -83.28% across four trades.
- 10x remained the workhorse: Seventy-eight of 110 trades ran at 10x, returning +603.76% at a 59.5% win rate. The eighteen 20x trades returned +166.76% at a 44.4% win rate, and the single 30x trade lost -18.93%. As in July, higher leverage did not improve the outcome; it only widened them.
- Lower leverage quietly outperformed on accuracy: The six trades taken at 5x won 83.3% of the time for +70.40%. Small sample, but it is the third consecutive month in which the leverage data points the same direction.
- Tokenized equity and commodity pairs gave back July’s gains: Fifteen trades across XAU, XAG, SPCX, NVDA, TSLA, MSFT, WMT, and AMZN produced just +11.00% at a 6-6-3 record. In July the same book delivered +291.34% from 19 trades. Gold’s -94.49% was the difference, offset only partly by SPCX’s clean 3-0.

July was the most efficient month on every ratio: higher win rate, better per-trade return, larger average win, and smaller average loss. August traded five more times and gave up roughly 200 percentage points of ROI.
The August crypto PNL report wins on two counts. It produced the larger single trade at +77.80%, and it converted its most-traded pair into a genuine profit engine for the first time this year.
The more important difference is shape. July’s return was distributed, with a 60.5% win rate in the first half, 64.2% in the second, and profitable trades spread across the calendar. August’s was concentrated, with a flat first half and an explosive second. Distributed returns are more repeatable. Concentrated returns depend on catching the specific window, and a trader who was inactive between 17 and 27 August would have missed most of the month.
What does the August crypto pnl report tell us about market conditions?
The data tracks the month’s actual price action closely, which is the most useful validation of the log.
Bitcoin spent the first half of August under pressure before rallying hard into the final ten days, reaching a three-month high above $81,000 on 25 August. The community’s positioning followed that turn almost exactly: shorts and mixed positioning through the flat first half, then a decisive rotation into longs from 18 August onward. Every one of the top six trades of the month was opened on or after 18 August.
That explains the long-side dominance. In a market that turned from range-bound to trending, the short book had nothing to work with, and the long book had everything.
Gold‘s -94.49% points to the opposite condition in commodities. Six trades taken in both directions, five losses, the signature of a pair that was choppy rather than directional, and where the community was positioned against a market that kept reversing. July’s gold book was profitable precisely because gold was trending then.
ZEC’s 0-3 and HBAR’s 1-2 suggest the same for parts of the altcoin board in the first half of the month: no clean direction to trade until the broader turn arrived.
Final Thoughts
The August crypto pnl report closes the month with a +907.24% ROI across 110 trades at a 58.49% win rate, the year’s highest trade count and its most concentrated return profile.
BTC, PENDLE, ONDO, SOL, SPCX, and DASH were August’s standout contributors, while XAU and ZEC were the month’s clearest drags. Losses stayed contained below -27%, with the average loss at -19.80% against an average win of +28.69%.
Three things carry into September. The first is the collapse in short-side profitability. 45 shorts for +28.12% is not a functioning book, and if the market keeps trending, sizing on that side needs rethinking. The second is gold, which swung from the month’s best pair in July to its worst in August; XAU deserves tighter risk parameters until it trends again. The third is Bitcoin’s rehabilitation as a profit pair after three months as a volume pair, which is worth watching rather than assuming.
The August crypto pnl report reinforces what every month before it has shown: consistent profitability comes from structured execution and disciplined risk control, not from avoiding losses. August’s specific contribution is a harder lesson than July’s. A month can deliver a four-figure ROI while being wrong more than 40% of the time and flat for half its duration provided the risk on every losing trade is capped and provided you are still trading when the market finally turns.
