NEAR Protocol price below monthly low: Is it just a sweep or beginning of bearish trend?

NEAR Protocol price has experienced mild selling pressure after a bullish rally. October was not favorable for investors. Furthermore, buyers tried to dominate but sellers were strong enough and still holding the price below the previous month low. Change in OI and funding rate was also spotted which could also impact the NEAR Protocol price momentum.

NEAR Protocol fundamentals

Beyond the charts, NEAR’s fundamentals help explain this year’s sharp rally and the current pullback. NEAR’s 2026 roadmap centres on merging AI with NEAR Intents, user-owned AI, and growing Intents into a top trading platform. NEAR Intents, a multichain trading protocol, has become the main growth driver. It recorded daily fee revenue above $400,000 in November 2025.

NEAR also generated $15.6 million in revenue in the first four months of 2026, up from about $10 million in total before the year began. On the technology side, dynamic resharding launched in June 2026, letting the network scale automatically as demand rises.

Sentiment also drew support from Grayscale’s pending spot ETF application for NEAR. The token recovered roughly sixfold from its February low near $0.84 to about $5.06 in late September, so the current dip is a test of whether adoption can justify those gains.

NEAR Protocol price overview

At press time, NEAR coin was trading at $3.86 which has dropped by 9.2% in the past 24 hours. Its market capitalization was $5.06B and the 24-hour trading volume was $616.361M. Its circulating and total supply is 1.311B.

NEAR Protocol price technical analysis over 1-D timeframe

NEAR price has kept falling since October and witnessed a correction of 27%. This correction has come after a bullish rally. The price has dropped below the last month low of $3.905 which could be a bearish signal.

If the price grabs the liquidity beneath the previous month low, buyers might dominate ahead. If the trading volume increases then a bullish momentum can be seen. Increased volume suggests that huge buying orders beneath the monthly low can have been executed which could result in a sharp bullish momentum.

Conversely, if the NEAR Protocol price sustains below the $3.905 then buyers might lose the grip. If sellers dominate then the price can drop to the immediate support level of $3.41.

NEAR price prediction: Open interest climbs as price slides toward $3.88

NEAR Protocol is trading near $3.88, down about 15% from its $4.55 local high on November 1, with support at $4.25 and $4.00 both giving way along the way. The derivatives data adds a warning: aggregated open interest rose from roughly 138M to 146M NEAR while price was falling, which means traders kept opening new positions into the decline, and OI-weighted funding remains positive at 0.0079%, so longs are still paying shorts.

Crowded longs in a falling market often set up liquidation cascades, and if NEAR loses the $3.85 support, forced closures could push price toward $3.60-$3.70. On the upside, a reclaim of $4.00 on rising volume would suggest dip-buyers were right and could open a path back toward $4.15 and $4.25. For now, the bias stays cautious until NEAR reclaims $4.00 or funding cools.

NEAR Protocol price and volume analysis

NEAR’s price action over the past six weeks shows a clear downtrend paired with fading market participation. After peaking near $5.80 around October 12, which coincided with some of the highest trading volumes in the period (roughly $3.4B to $4B), the token has steadily lost ground, sliding toward the $3.90 area by November 3. Each rally since then has produced a lower high, a classic bearish structure.

Volume tells a similar story. Daily turnover has dropped from the $3B-$4B range in late September and mid-October to around $1B-$1.5B recently, with some sessions dipping below $1B. Declining volume during a falling price suggests weakening buyer conviction rather than aggressive selling, but it also means no strong demand is stepping in yet.

If NEAR protocol sustains below the $3.90 to $4.00 support zone on a daily timeframe, further downside toward $3.50 is possible. A recovery would require a volume surge and a reclaim of $4.50. Until then, bias remains cautious.

Final thoughts

NEAR’s drop below its monthly low of $3.905 looks more like a continuation of weakness than a clean liquidity sweep, though a rebound is still possible. On the charts, price is down roughly 27% from its October peak, rallies keep making lower highs, and daily volume has faded from $3-$4B to around $1B-$1.5B. Open interest rose while price fell, and positive funding means crowded longs could fuel a liquidation cascade below $3.85, with targets near $3.60-$3.70 and $3.42-$3.50. Bulls need a reclaim of $4.00 on rising volume to open a path toward $4.15-$4.25.

Fundamentals offer some support. Growth in NEAR Intents, rising protocol revenue, the dynamic resharding upgrade, and ETF speculation give the network a credible long-term story. Still, strong fundamentals rarely stop short-term corrections, so the bias stays cautious until price and volume confirm a recovery.

Why is NEAR Protocol price falling below its monthly low?

NEAR has dropped about 27% from its October peak near $5.80, with each rally forming a lower high. Selling pressure, fading volume, and the break below the previous monthly low of $3.905 point to weakening buyer conviction.

Is the drop below $3.905 a liquidity sweep or the start of a bearish trend?

It could be either. A sweep would be confirmed by a sharp rebound on rising volume and a reclaim of $4.00. Without that, the lower highs and declining participation favor a continuing bearish structure.

What do rising open interest and positive funding rates mean for NEAR?

Open interest climbed from roughly 138M to 146M NEAR while price fell, meaning traders kept opening positions into the decline. With funding at 0.0079%, longs are still paying shorts. Crowded longs in a falling market raise the risk of liquidation cascades.
